Themes and Styling

This blog tutorial will show you the new editing tools when adding images to an event. This is for Ios only.

When adding events or editing events, you can add images, but on Version 3.0, editing was rather laborious. Now we have neatened up the editing process for your countdowns. So let’s start with an already created event, but where you find all the editing options for the event is exactly the same even when you create a new event. So tap on Settings, then scroll down to Appearance and Style then tap on Themes and Style.

Now you will see all the editing options, if you want to change the style of the countdown then you change that with the top drop-down menu. Change the style of font or colour at the bottom of the screen. Then most importantly you will want to add an image to the countdown so tap on the camera icon.

Then once you are done editing the event, tap on the arrow to go back and then tap Done when you are all finished.

Thank you for reading this tutorial, we will be releasing more tutorials very soon. If you have any questions about the app then message us on Facebook. Check out the original video here.

Current Updates for Android and iPhone

If you have been following us recently on Facebook, you may have noticed a few more updates on the progress of Android and iPhone. We just wanted to catch you all up on what we are currently working on this month and next month.

As mentioned in the last update posted on our blog post, we have released a new version for Android which is Version 4.0. Since release, we have faced several issues but managed to solve quite a lot very fast. Right now, we are trying to solve issues with the settings tab, crashes in the app, issues with video ads and a few other minor issues. We have been delayed in sorting out these issues in the app due to unforeseen circumstances with our team. If you notice any other issues in the app, then don’t hesitate to message us on Facebook and we will try our best, to help you with that issue.

Work has started on the iPhone version of the app already, but due to the issues on Android, we have been yet again set back because of this. We are aiming to switch the servers as well since they have caused a lot of problems in recent months on both versions of the app. This won’t take effect until we are 100% satisfied it is stable enough for release. Meaning it might not happen until the end of the year.

If you want to stay informed on updates and progress of the app then the best place to follow us is on Facebook. We are aiming to post more information on updates to our Facebook from now on. If you do have questions about the app then message us on Facebook where we are happy to help you with any query regarding the app. Follow us on Instagram and Twitter to see what events we are counting down to. If you are on Android then you might want to follow us on all social channels to see the new tutorial videos we are posting every Wednesday.

User Inspired Music Countdowns from Twitter

Seeing your countdowns on Twitter and Instagram makes us so happy since we get to see the huge amount of creativity and give us major holiday envy. User Inspired blog posts are now going to be a lot more regularly on our blog post.

If you are not familiar with our user inspired posts then here is a little catch up on what happens in these posts. We pick 2 amazing countdowns from Twitter or Instagram and give you a little more info on the countdown itself. If it is a countdown to say, Ed Sheeran, we give you some news on him and if there are still some tickets left or if it’s a holiday some great tips on where to go and what to see and when to go. This post has two countdowns from Twitter that are music based.

First up is @thirlsfreak who is seeing Harry Styles in October, her timeline was filled with music events and music timelines are always the best. Here is a little bit of info on who Harry Styles is, he shot to fame when he auditioned for X Factor as a solo artist. After a short time, a group of five boys were put together to form One Direction. Who has gone on to become one of the most popular boy bands, as of lately each of the boys has taken a break from One Direction. They have all gone on to boast successful solo careers, and nearly all are on tours right now. That includes Harry Styles who is touring from mid-September with his first show in San Francisco, performing his current hits “Sign of the Times” “Two Ghosts and many more new songs. We really love his new material and think he will do amazing as a solo artist. He is touring all over the world and has announced new tickets for 2018, so if you missed the huge announcement of his tour then you might have a chance to see him live next year.

Next up is @TammyLouiseWood who is seeing a huge list of YouTubers at Hello World in October at Birmingham Genting Arena. This is said to be a YouTube event like no other kind. Some information has been released about what to expect from the event which is a mix between a YouTube convention and a fair ground. Not only do you get to see stage performances from your favourite YouTubers but you get to see them around the venue as well. We can’t wait to know a little bit more about the event closer to the date. So far the list of YouTubers includes, Zoella, Joe Sugg, Alfie Deyes, Marcus Butler, Tyler Oakley, KSI, Louise Pentland, Jim Chapman, Ollie White, Caspar Lee, Rose and Rosie, Mark Ferris, Niki and Sammy and much more yet to be confirmed. There are quite a lot of you already who have got their tickets and you can still get your tickets online right now.

We hope this was a great read for anyone who is looking to see someone live but wasn’t 100% sure on who to see live. We want to see more of your countdowns on Twitter so tag us in your countdowns and use the #countdown and #countdownplus

Future Update for Android and iPhone

If you are a loyal reader or just a regular user of Countdownplus then you might have seen a couple of updates appear on the Google Play Store. We wanted to just check in and let you know what to expect from us in the next few months.

We were working hard for several months on the Android update, and unfortunately, it took us longer than we hoped. Android Version 4.0 is currently available to download right now which we are so thrilled about. We are working on a few new updates which will clear some minor issues with some bugs. Also in the meantime, we are trying to get a fix out for the widget issue many of you have highlighted for us on Facebook and Twitter. There are a few features which need to be added to make sure it directly mirrors the iPhone version. Right now we would love it if you would go and give us a lovely review on Google Play.

For the iPhone version, we have seen a steady activity on the app and not as many issues so we will update the iPhone version with some minor updates. Mainly concerning the video ads that we introduced on the Android version. This will mean that when you want to use an image from our image packs you can simply just watch a video ad.

We will try to update you on any other changes which you can expect in the next few months on social media and on our blog as well. If you do have questions about the app then message us on Facebook where we are happy to help you with any query regarding the app. Follow us on Instagram and Twitter to see what events we are counting down to. If you are on Android then you might want to follow us on all social channels to see the new tutorial videos we are posting every Wednesday.

We want to post a lot more app updates to the blog so you stay informed about any changes or fixes to the app.

Brand New Update for Android

So as you might have all heard from us over the past couple of months that we have been very busy updating the app for Android. We realise it has taken us longer than expected but we are happy to announce it has finally launched for you all to check out. So we wanted to do a quick overview of what to expect on this version of the Android update.

This was a huge request for many users via FB messages and reviews, and finally, you will be able to transfer your data from Android to iPhone, iPhone to Android and Android to Android. This was always going to be the first feature we wanted to add to the new update and was the main reason why the update was so delayed since we hit some minor issues with our server space.

Image Packs

You can now choose from a vast collection of image packs for this update and you can also unlock single images from packs by simply watching a video ad via the app. We will be aiming to update image packs a lot more frequently from now on as well.

Facebook Events

This was also a big request that we actually fix the Facebook button, and since the last couple of years Facebook has made things a little more difficult so you will need to enable events from your laptop first then you will see Facebook Events show in the app. We will create a video tutorial to better explain the process and we have added a pop up in the app to better explain the process.

Sharing Events

For this update, you can now share too much more platforms than before. Share any screen and countdown to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and many other platforms.

In the next few weeks expect to see a whole heap of video tutorials on all channels on social. So follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to find all the videos.

Sharing Options

This video tutorial turned into a blog post will help you understand all the share capabilities for the iPhone version of the app. This is for Ios only. This came in joint second to the previous video in our Twitter poll.

You can now share pretty much any screen from the app, but what has improved is the places you can share your countdowns to. As you may know in Version 3.0 Facebook sharing was broken and we fixed it for Version 4.0.

Firstly when you want to share a countdown, tap on the share button, square with an arrow. Then if you have your sound turned on you will hear a camera clicker sound. Then a pop up will appear at the top of the screen reminding you to use the hashtags we provide. They are already saved to your clipboard so you just have to paste them. You can now share to a larger range of networks. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, SMS, Email, Photos and more. If you want to share it to other networks, then tap on more and you will get the options to do so.

So say you want to share to Facebook, there is no preset text so add what you want. Sharing with Instagram will ask you to copy to Instagram, and it will open up Instagram for you. Sharing to Twitter, will give you preset text, delete what you wish and keep whatever you think is appropriate. When sharing via SMS and Email we do have a longer preset text, of course again delete if you wish. Tapping Photos, will save the screenshot to your photos album. You will see a pop up appear telling you it saved.

Sharing from any screen of the app is pretty simple, tap on Menu three lines then look for the share app button.

Thank you for reading this tutorial, we will be releasing more tutorials very soon. If you have any questions about the app then message us on Facebook. Check out the original video here.

Holiday Tab

We have another video tutorial turned into a blog post for you. For this blog tutorial, we will show you the Holiday tab features. This is for iOS only. It came 2nd in our Twitter poll, so thanks for voting.

Holidays Tab is new to Version 4.0, the feature works best if you purchase the app from the App Store or via the lite version. You can add events from all across the world.

Adding events from the list is simple, choose the country you want to add the event from. Just tap on the Country up top and change it. Then find the event you want, tap on the plus button and it will add it to your timeline. So easy to see the Holiday tab events on your timeline, because we added an emoji flag. Of course, it presets the style to calendar type so change the style if you wish.

So there is of course more to the holiday tab, if you want to find out more info to see if the holiday is regional you can. Also if you say add an event from Japan, it will translate the holiday name as well. You can share the page of course if you wish, by tapping on the share button. Each event also has a holiday code. If you want to add the code you can do, if you want to find out more on event codes then watch this video.

Thank you for reading this tutorial, we will be releasing more tutorials very soon. If you have any questions about the app then message us on Facebook. Check out the original video here.

How to use C+ to revise for exams

Last week we talked about how you could use Countdownplus for work but this week it is all about how to use the app for exams. Exam season is already in full swing here in the UK and some of you may or may not still be revising in between exams. We have some tips below to help you revise for your exams.

Share Events

Much like with using the app for work, a lot of the time some of your friends will be revising for the same exam. So you could set up a countdown to say a particular subject like History, then you can personalise it, even if it is a countdown to an exam. Then share the code with your friends, so all of you are aware of when the exam is and how long you have left to revise for the exam. If you need an in-depth tutorial then check out the tutorial in blog form or video form.

Add Images

You might not want to add images to your exam countdowns and only add pictures to your exciting events. Think of it as an easy way to keep organised and make exams seem less boring. We recommend using some images from our image packs, which is an in-app purchase but adds colour to your countdowns. We think the pattern packs might suit your needs best. It will make your countdown timeline come to life.

App Icon Countdown

We have a feature called App Icon Countdown and it displays a number of days to your next countdown event. So this will really help out if your next event is an exam and you need to know quickly how many more days left till an event. If you want to turn it on then Open the App-More-App Icon Countdown and make sure it is turned on (green switch).

We hope these few tips helped you feel you could be more organised for any exams you have this year or for the future. Don’t forget to tag your countdowns with #countdown and #countdownplus

How you can use C+ for work

Countdownplus can be a great tool to use for not only your personal life but for work. We want to highlight some of our amazing features to help you with your work life.

Calendar

A lot of time you will get meetings sent to you via your work email address, so our phone calendars get filled up with the meetings. One good way to make sure you never miss any of your meetings in the day is to simply add your events from the calendar tab on the app. You can add them at the touch of a button, simply tap on the plus button for any of the events you want to countdown to. If you need an in-depth tutorial then check out the tutorial in blog form or video form.

Location Tags

If you spend more time out of the office and go on site to a few places and don’t want to forget which meeting is in what building. You can now in Version 4.1 of the app, add a location tag just like you can on Instagram. Scroll down to the bottom of the edit countdown screen, you will find a location option. To check the location of the event, then hit the notepad to view the event details.

Share Events

Adding everyone who needs to attend the meeting can be a bit time-consuming. Why not add colleagues to the app, and you can all follow along with the event. This could help if you have a lot of recurring events since with our app, you can set it to countdown to repeat itself, every day, every week, every 2 weeks, every 4 weeks, every month and every year. Or this could be a great way to make sure everyone is aware of a new product launch or just your usual Monday morning meetings. If you need an in-depth tutorial then check out the tutorial in blog form or video form.

We hope these few tips helped you out, let us know in the comments here if it did. Don’t forget to tag your countdowns with #countdown and #countdownplus.
