May Update

Over the last month, we have been working hard on getting new releases out both for Android and iOS. Please read on to find out what to expect very soon.

First up on the agenda is iOS one main issue we have seen from a lot of users is the multiple push notification the day of an event. (pictured below) We have fixed this issue for the next release due very soon. Many users over time have expressed their feelings about the image cropping screen. This has been revamped to fit with the similar style of how images are cropped within the camera roll. If you are an iPad user then you will be delighted to know that we have re-enabled image cropping on iPad. One last feature to point out is that on the lite version on iOS you can now choose dates further than 1000 days ahead and behind can now be added. Check out your updates tab on the App Store.

Android will be updated after iOS comes out. We have a few plans to update the app. There are like with most updates a few bugs that do need fixing. One bug which is to do with some lagging that has been occurring in the app. Some bug to do with the fact that images just don’t seem to be sticking. For us, those are the two main focuses for the next update.

If you are experiencing any issues or come across anything wrong in the app please message us on Facebook. Check back in this time next month for another update. Here is last months one.

Since Version 4.1 we have added photo filters, first of all let’s explain how you can unlock extra filters. So go to the upgrades screen, you will see that now you will be able to unlock extra filters by either having the full version, or purchasing one of the image packs. So you can be on the lite version, but can unlock extra filters simply by purchasing image packs.

You can use photo filters in many different ways, you can use them on your profile picture, cover image and also pictures for your countdowns. So we are going to create a mock event just so you can see what happens. So fill in event details and then hit Themes and Styling.

Tap on the image in the bottom left hand corner, choose the image you want to use, then you will see a bunch of filters to choose from, once you get the extra filters you will have a huge selection to choose from. Choose the filter you like and hit save. Then you are all done.

Add Facebook Events to your Android Calendar

On this post, we wanted to share with you how to add Facebook events on to your Android device. We do have the steps on our app but wanted to share you with you some visual steps on how to add them.

Facebook no longer allows third-party apps to directly sync Facebook birthdays. You can still access Facebook birthdays and events by configuring your Google calendar to import Facebook events.

You will need to access your Facebook account on a desktop browser, unlike on an iPhone you cannot just Request Desktop Site. In the top right-hand corner find the question mark symbol which is next to the arrow symbol. Type into the search section “export events”, you will see a list of options as an answer. You need to click on “How do I export events or friends’ birthdays? then follow these instructions.

When on the Events page, right-click the Upcoming Events link.

In another tab on your laptop open Google Calendar. In the bottom left-hand corner, you will see “Other calendars”, click on the bottom arrow to then find “Add by URL”. Paste the “Upcoming Events” or “Birthdays” link. Then click Add Calendar and you will see a message on the screen saying Calendar was imported successfully.

We hope this helped you add your Facebook Events to your Android device and the app, if you have any questions about the app then message us on Facebook.

Add Facebook Events to your iPhone Calendar

Since Apple released iOS 11 a couple of our users on Countdownplus have been messaging us on Facebook saying that they cannot see any calendar options in the Facebook section of their iPhone settings. This is because Apple removed direct Facebook and Twitter integration on iOS 11.We wanted to share with you how to add Facebook events back to your iPhone on iOS 11. The only way to add Facebook Events back to your calendar and for the app is to subscribe to the calendar.

On your iPhone click on this link, then you will most likely see the mobile version of the site. You need to request the desktop site, for Google Chrome you can find this option under the three dots, Request Desktop Site. For Safari, you can find this option under the share button, scroll across to find Request Desktop Site.

Then in the lower right-hand corner, you will need zoom in to find this option. Tap on Upcoming Events and Birthdays. You will see a pop up telling you if you already have it or not. Just follow the on-screen instructions.

Alternatively, you can copy the Upcoming Events and Birthdays link, and go to your Settings-Accounts & Passwords-Add Account-Other-Add Subscribed Calendar. Then paste the link to the calendar in the Server section. Tap next and then tap Save.

We hope this helped you add your Facebook Events back to your iPhone calendar and the app, if you have any questions about the app then message us on Facebook.
