It’s been some time since we did any Disneyland related blog posts, so we wanted to share some of the best tips for Disneyland Paris. We will split this into sections to read the parts you feel will help you out the most.
So unlike in Florida where it is always sunny and barely a chance of rain or snow. You need to expect the worst to happen in terms of weather. So if you visit in October then bring jumpers and a light raincoat, this works especially if you need to keep warm and dry during the night shows. You might think the park is small but it really doesn’t so do take some great weatherproof shows. It will help as you don’t want to walk around the park and end up having blisters and feeling tired so fast.
Book a Disney Hotel
This is more of a tip if you have not booked yet, but good to keep in mind for the next trip to Disneyland as well. It is always best to stay in a Disneyland hotel as you can get a free shuttle service to the parks from Disneyland hotels. It also only takes around 10 minutes to walk to the park. Tons of extras get thrown in as well if you choose a Disneyland hotel, such as park tickets come included in the price of your hotel stay, on-site shop and restaurant. If you choose to book a non-Disneyland hotel it can take up to an hour to get back which means less time in the park.
Much like the parks in the US, if you do end up staying in a park in the US. You will be given early access to the parks, from 8am. This gives you a head start of 2 hours to get on rides, so you don’t have to wait behind everyone. This works well for the type of rides where you cannot get fast pass tickets for.
Disneyland has some great food options as well if you do end up staying in the hotels then plan when you want to eat. If you think about eating when everyone else does you will get stuck in a queue for the table. It is advised online to eat before everyone does. Booking a table could be ideal as well since you won’t have to queue. So, plan a day ahead this will help if you are going in a large group. You can if you don’t want to have a sit-down lunch grab food from food stands around the park.
We hope these few tips helped you figure out what is best for your next Disneyland Paris trip. Tag all your Disneyland countdowns with #countdown and #countdownplus so we can see them.
We love your countdowns so much and if you follow us on Instagram and Twitter you will see how much we adore your countdowns. So, we decided to make more user inspired posts and stick to posting them once a month on our blog.
If you are not familiar with our user inspired posts then here is a little catch up on what happens in these posts. We pick 2 amazing countdowns from Twitter or Instagram and give you a little more info on the countdown itself. If it is a countdown to say, Ed Sheeran, we give you some news on him and if there are still some tickets left or if it’s a holiday some great tips on where to go and what to see and when to go.
For the first time, ever in a long time some of you have been sharing some amazing holiday countdowns on Twitter.
First up is @lynnjohnston73 who is off to Tenerife in August. If you like the sound of Tenerife then the best time to go is May, June and July due to the sea breeze being so cool which makes the summer days more refreshing. August is one the most popular times of the year to visit. August is also the hottest time of year to visit as well, so if you need to escape the misery that can be the British weather then it might be perfect. We have actually talked about Tenerife before and one of the most popular destinations to visit if you want to cool off from the summer heat is Siam Park. Heavily popular with tourists, so if you want to go when it isn’t as busy then try getting there in the morning and like many theme parks they have fast passes. Those could come in handy if you don’t want to just waste time queuing. A lot of people assume it’s quite a small park but it is a huge park so don’t forget to pack a pair of trainers with you. If you aren’t interested in the big drops on the slides then you might like the Wave Palace pool which has over 42 different types of waves. Nice place just to relax and enjoy the sunshine with a drink. If you want to go on a huge inner tube you can and glide along the Thai ‘Lazy’ River. If you are an adrenaline junkie and love your slides then you might really enjoy the Tower of Power.
Loro Parque is also a good place to visit, Siam Park and Loro Parque are connected so if you want to save money then get the twin ticket for both parks. Loro Parque has so many animals to see. You can expect to see everything from Gorillas, Sea Lions, Parrots, Sharks and much more. They have a fair few shows you can see during the day to and can see the big orcas performing and has a stunning bird show. There are so many beaches to visit as well if you don’t fancy going to the water park. It’s a lovely place to visit you simply want to do nothing and just lay by the pool in your hotel.
Next up is @TommGreenn who is off to Croatia in September. If Tenerife isn’t for you then maybe Croatia could be more of your cup of tea. Croatia is best to visit during May to June and also in September which is perfect for @TommGreenn. Croatia is a large country and there is an awful lot to see. Some popular destinations in Croatia are Split, Dubrovnik and Zadar. If you visit Split then the best things to do is to rent a car or Vespa and ride around the coastline to visit the beaches and towns. If you want to see some culture then head to Diocletian’s Palace which was constructed by Emperor Diocletian’s in the fourth century AD. If you love Game of Thrones then you might like to know that some of the show was filmed in the Palace. If you are looking for some relaxation then you might enjoy the Krka National Park which is a big hit with tourists and a lovely place to swim in the waterfalls. There is so much more to Croatia then we could write a blog post so if you are heading to Croatia then we hope this gave you a good idea of what to expect.
We hope you enjoyed reading about these two amazing holiday countdowns from Twitter. We want to see more of your countdowns on Twitter so tag us in your countdowns and use the #countdown and #countdownplus
Disney 23 Expo was on this past weekend and we found out a lot of exciting news about upcoming movies and upcoming rides for this parks. So as you may know we are big fans of Disneyland here on our blog and thought it only felt appropriate to share our favourite new rides coming to Disneyland.
If you don’t have any clue what Disney 23 Expo is well it’s a massive fan based event in the Anaheim Convention Centre. They have huge announcements for rides and future films and this event runs every other year. So, this year was no exception it had some amazing news about improvements and new additions to the parks.
As you may already know Disneyland has been making way for more Star Wars attractions for some time now. Disneyland is going all out on future lands and rides, such as the Star Wars: The Galaxy’s Edge which will be a land full of immersive experiences. If you are die hard Star Wars fan then you might be familiar with the cantina scene and you can get yourself a glass of blue milk and a perfect music tone to set the mood, it will be like you are in the movie. As of right now, there are a lot Disneyland resorts which are based on classic Disney characters, but a first time for the Disneyland parks will be a Star Wars themed resort. The stay will be like no other resort stay at the park, you will be a citizen of the galaxy as soon as you check in. You will get the right costume and many other exciting opportunities as a new citizen of the galaxy. All the stay will be filled with immersive experiences that you will cherish forever. No real news on what to offer but it makes it all that more exciting if you don’t know really what to expect.
So as you might already be aware of is that the Hollywood Tower of Terror was closed down for a Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout ride. We had a funny feeling we might be seeing more of the Marvel universe come to the parks in the future. They have plans for new rides which will be situated at Epcot, so it is said that the reason why a Guardians of the Galaxy ride will come to Epcot instead of the parks is that when Peter Quill (Star-Lord) was a big fan of the place when he was younger. So, it seems like a fitting place to place the new ride. 2021 is the big 50th anniversary for Walt Disney World Resort, to coincide they wanted to add an attraction such as a new Guardians of the Galaxy ride and a new Ratatouille inspired ride which will link to the France pavilion.
In other Disneyland news, transportation has been on the parks minds for some time since the Walt Disney World Resort is roughly the size of the city of San Francisco. Which is a lot of space to cover and well can be tricky to get to all parks? So, they want to introduce Minnie Mouse themed vehicles which will help take them from place to place at the parks. They will also include some air travel in the form of a new Disney Skyliner, it will help to get to all locations in the resort. All locations will be linked up to the Skyliner, so you can travel and see the parks from a whole new angle.
We hope you are as excited about all the new rides at the parks as we are, in the comments let us know what you are most looking forward to. Don’t forget to tag your Disneyland countdowns with #countdownplus or #countdown.
We are midway through the summer months and we have been seeing a huge amount of holiday countdowns on Instagram. You share so many countdowns on Instagram and it is our favourite platform. We have selected some of the favourite countdowns from Instagram to give you some holiday inspiration. Over the month of July we will be posting a lot more User Inspired content to our blog so follow along to see more posts.
Right let’s get into this post with a post from @0ojones who is off to San Francisco in October this year and she is off too many more locations but we loved the sound of San Francisco. San Francisco is famous for many things such as Lombard Street the winding road, Golden Gate Bridge which you can see in many stunning photos online and The Castro. First few tips to get you started that we found online is that you should bring a jacket and expect it to be rather breezy. When you go expect to walk a lot or rely on Uber for longer travel journeys. If you love seeing breathtaking art and getting some much-needed exercise then head to the 16th Avenue Tiled Steps, it will make for the perfect Instagram photo. Now if you are a lot older and watched Full House or the remake on Netflix you might be aware of the famous houses in San Francisco. They are called The Pink Ladies, which are 7 iconic houses which you can find in San Francisco either on foot or by the bus tour. We mentioned Lombard Street which is a famous long winding road in San Francisco. It has 8 hairpin turns, you can drive down it if you feel brave enough. Not only is grabbing a taxi a great way around town but trying out the cable cars are a must do if you feel like being a true tourist. So we hope that gives you enough inspiration on what to do in San Francisco.
Next up is @meow_meow_smith who is off to Florence, Italy soon. We have been following her countdown for some time now and been sharing her countdowns on our Instagram Stories as well. So we only felt it was right to feature her countdown on our blog. So Florence is a stunning place to visit in Italy, as soon as you type Florence into Pinterest you get the most stunning photos and great ideas for things to do. So featured in her photo is the Duomo, which is a stunning cathedral which can be viewed from many locations. The Cathedral is breathtaking inside and outside a must do when visiting Florence. If you are looking for the even more interesting place to visit then head to the Ponte Vecchio which is said to be Florence’s oldest and most picturesque bridge which holds many buildings. The buildings on the bridge are actually shops which range from jewellers to silversmiths. The city is best visited from above so head to either Duomo or Palazzo Vecchio for that stunning Instagram photo of the city. You can actually climb the bell tower or dome at the Duomo. If you don’t want to queue up for the views then head to the Palazzo Vecchio as apparently, you don’t have to queue as long since the Duomo is a touristy spot. Well, Italy is famous for pasta and pizza so why not indulge in some amazing at the Osteria Santo Spirito Restaurant on the south side of Arno. If you don’t want pasta then head to Gusta Pizza for apparently the best pizza in Florence.
We hope you enjoyed both of our users inspired posts this week. Check back in next week for more user inspired posts. If you want to be featured on our Instagram Stories then simply use the #countdown and #countdownplus on your posts and don’t forget to tag us in all your countdown photos on Instagram. So the last few posts have been about work and school so we wanted to share some tips on vacations. We love seeing all of your vacation countdowns on social media. So we wanted to share with you how you can have a fabulous vacation trip via the app.
Once you get your friends together and find out a date you all agree on then, you can add those all important dates to the app. Share the event code and don’t forget to make the event public so everyone can countdown with you.
If you are going on several vacations then don’t forget to personalise the countdown with the selection of great images from our image packs. We have a few vacation inspired images to choose from. You could also add your own images or images from Facebook.
Once you have all the dates sorted and you finish personalising the event then you should start to share the event on social media which as mentioned a lot of our users do. Twitter we don’t see enough holiday countdowns so do get Sharing via the share buttons on the app.
Then a sad feeling of knowing the event is over is not a nice feeling, but you can keep the old events to see how long since an event. This should then spur you on to actually add some new holiday events to the app. The repeat from the top.
We hope this gave you some more ideas on what to do with your vacation countdowns. So get sharing on social as we love seeing your countdowns use #countdown and #countdownplus
We love writing about Universal Studios Orlando as much as we like talking about Disneyland. So we wanted to do a similar post to our Disneyland blog post and share with you a beginner’s guide to Universal Studios Orlando. We sourced some of the best info we could find on Pinterest and blog sites.
When to attend
Much like Disneyland, it is best to attend during term time and avoid the national holidays when you can. Of course, if you like going around seasonal time then you may expect to see a few seasonal treats like rides, shows and food.
So if some of you aren’t aware you can use your magic wand that you get from Harry Potter world to do a whole host of fun things. You can unlock some magical features on some parts of the Harry Potter area of the park. Look out for the spots on the floor telling you where to go.
Much like with Disneyland you can find some delightful treats to enjoy at the park. Following on from Harry Potter, you can get a butter beer and why not choose a Frozen Butter Beer for those hot days at the park. The giant Big Pink doughnut from Lard Lad Donuts is a must, best when shared amongst friends. If you are looking for a hearty meal then head to The Leaky Cauldron, which offers a variety of British foods like Bangers and Mash and Cottage Pie. If you want something cold for dessert then head to Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlour, which has some tasty flavours to indulge in.
So much like Disneyland’s Fast Pass Universal Studios has its own system of jumping the queues. You can get The Express Pass which is given to you if you stay in one of the five hotels. Since Universal Studios has a lot more to offer, a lot of people recommend to get a park to park ticket, it means you can get out a lot more rides and attractions.
Let us know if you are off to Universal Studios in the comments and don’t forget to tag your countdowns or Universal Studio countdowns with #countdownplus and #countdown.
We write a lot of Disneyland based blog posts and wanted to share with you a beginner’s guide to Disneyland. We sourced some of the best info we could find on Pinterest and blog sites.
When to attend
So as shared before it’s best to go during term time at school and avoid all national holidays if you can. Bare in mind it is totally down to when is best for you and sometimes visiting during national holidays can be a great time to see special shows and eat some seasonal foods.
If you are going to the park with family or friends, please remember not to bring your selfie sticks as these are frowned upon at the park. If whilst at the park for the first time you want to see your favourite Disney characters then, the meet and greet with characters might suit you. You can meet several of your favourite characters.
If you want to fast track a lot of rides then we recommend getting yourself a fast pass. For a limited time on rides, you can queue jump and not have to wait hours to get on a ride. This is highly recommended if you are going to get on a ride which is very popular. You can grab tickets at the entrance of rides at the park, you just pay a little extra to queue jump.
Attending a firework show is a must when visiting Disneyland for the first time, or check out the special parades. We want to share the best places to actually view the fireworks which are, the further away you get from the castle the more obstructions will block your view. If you don’t mind setting up camp 2 hours before the show the try and find a spot to sit near the Partners Statue.
There are many food items and always new ones around the seasonal holidays. We have talked about Disneyland items before but a few fan favourites are as follows. The Mickey ears ice cream bar which is so simple but a staple at the parks. Dole whip which sounds amazing and we are yet to enjoy or try the Dole Float. The Mickey Pretzel is a firm favourite for many as a great savoury snack, you can find it at many food carts. We have seen so many gorgeous pictures of the Bacon Mac and Cheese inside from a bread cone which sounds amazing, can be found at the Cars Land. There are much more but these are great, to begin with.
Let us know if you are off to Disneyland in the comments and don’t forget to tag your countdowns or Disneyland countdowns with #countdownplus and #countdown.
We love creating user inspired posts and for this week’s post, it’s all about Summer Holidays. We found 2 of our recent favourite countdowns from Instagram and gathered some fun facts and things to do in those countries.
First up we have @mikailapatt who is off to Gran Canaria in June this year. Gran Canaria is a stunning place, if you just type “Gran Canaria” into Pinterest you will see a sea of images that show off the stunning scenery. There are lots of beaches and plenty of mountains to trek as well. If you are just after a peaceful beach holiday then it is perfect for that kind of holiday. With about 9 different beaches to choose from, you will be spoilt for choice. If however, you want to venture into the ocean you can by taking some boat trips and more specifically the Aphrodite Cruise, which you can take from Puerto Rico. If you fancy a trek then it is recommended to hire a car to visit Teja which is in the middle of the mountain island. There is so much to see it would be hard to whittle it down into a blog post so check Pinterest and some blog sites for tips on what to do. The island is perfect any time of year so whether you visit in Summer or in Winter you will be guaranteed to get hot weather. It is the ideal hiking holiday since there are so many caves and mountains to visit.
Now we have @jesssymarshall who is off to Bulgaria in June this year. This user’s timeline looked busy but we fell in love with the idea of going to Bulgaria. If you just Pinterest search Bulgaria you get beautiful scenery shots and plenty of travel blog links on what to do. So we dug into a few of them and picked a few things you could do whilst out on holiday in Bulgaria. Apparently, June is a great time to head to Bulgaria as it has the best weather during that month and in September. Believe it or not, you can also go skiing in December through to March who knew. When we searched a popular destination to visit in Bulgaria is Sofia which is the capital of Bulgaria. There is a whole lot of history to see whilst in the capital and there are a huge amount of museums to head to. One museum which comes up in a lot of photos is the Largo Open Air Museum where you can relics of the past. Lastly let’s briefly mention food, apparently, Bulgarians love a good sit down meal with plenty to eat. So expect to spend a lot of time eating as well as exploring the city it is the perfect way to get back some energy. Plus it is relatively cheap compared to prices in other European countries so you get your money worth in terms of portion sizes.
We hope you enjoyed another wonderful user inspired blog post, we love to see your countdowns on social media so don’t forget to tag your countdowns with #countdown and #countdownplus so we can like them.
Following along from our last Top 5 blog post about Disneyland we wanted to do a similar post but for Universal Studios Orlando. So here are our Top 5 things to do whilst at Universal Studios Orlando. All this info was sourced from Pinterest.
- Don’t Travel to Universal during summer holidays
One of the busiest months is during the summer holidays mid-June- late August. Those are the months to best avoid a trip there. It is also the three hottest months to visit the park as well. Aim to travel when summer holidays or the easter weekend. It will be a better experience if you don’t go at the busiest times since you won’t be queuing for hours.
- Buy a Park to Park Ticket
It highly recommends online that you get a park to park ticket since it makes it easier. You can get a train ticket to board the Hogwarts Express, which actually works as a park to park transport. You can go to the ticket booths at either station in the parks. Best thing to do is to book these tickets in advance to save on time and money.
- Stay on the On-site hotels at Universal Studios
It is a must and also a benefit if you stay at any of the on-site hotels. It’s not just a convenient place to stay but, you will get the chance to go to each park with a Universal Express Unlimited pass for both park free of charge. You can receive early admission to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. You can enter the parks as well one hour earlier than general admission, perfect since a lot of the attractions are very busy in the morning. Also, this free pass is for your whole stay not just a one-off pass, so it is something to take full advantage of.
- Enjoy a Butter Beer
One of the most popular drinks at Universal Studios Orlando is the butter beer at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It is a huge must drink everywhere we look online. It is said to taste a little bit like a cream soda, perfect picture opportunity as well, to share with all your friends online. There is also a frozen version of the drink.
- Eat a Pink Doughnut
We keep seeing this everywhere online but get a taste of the amazing pink doughnut which you can find at Lard Lad Donuts. It is located in the Simpsons area of the theme park. The pink doughnut is basically the size of your face and it is really fun for a picture opportunity as well. Well worth it if you want to share it too since it’s huge.
Hope you all enjoyed another Universal Studios Orlando post. Don’t forget to tag all your Disneyland countdowns with #countdownplus and #countdown.
