How to use C+ for vacations

So the last few posts have been about work and school so we wanted to share some tips on vacations. We love seeing all of your vacation countdowns on social media. So we wanted to share with you how you can have a fabulous vacation trip via the app.

Planning

Once you get your friends together and find out a date you all agree on then, you can add those all important dates to the app. Share the event code and don’t forget to make the event public so everyone can countdown with you.

Image Packs

If you are going on several vacations then don’t forget to personalise the countdown with the selection of great images from our image packs. We have a few vacation inspired images to choose from. You could also add your own images or images from Facebook.

Share Event

Once you have all the dates sorted and you finish personalising the event then you should start to share the event on social media which as mentioned a lot of our users do. Twitter we don’t see enough holiday countdowns so do get Sharing via the share buttons on the app.

Past Events

Then a sad feeling of knowing the event is over is not a nice feeling, but you can keep the old events to see how long since an event. This should then spur you on to actually add some new holiday events to the app. The repeat from the top.

We hope this gave you some more ideas on what to do with your vacation countdowns. So get sharing on social as we love seeing your countdowns use #countdown and #countdownplus

How to use C+ to revise for exams

Last week we talked about how you could use Countdownplus for work but this week it is all about how to use the app for exams. Exam season is already in full swing here in the UK and some of you may or may not still be revising in between exams. We have some tips below to help you revise for your exams.

Share Events

Much like with using the app for work, a lot of the time some of your friends will be revising for the same exam. So you could set up a countdown to say a particular subject like History, then you can personalise it, even if it is a countdown to an exam. Then share the code with your friends, so all of you are aware of when the exam is and how long you have left to revise for the exam. If you need an in-depth tutorial then check out the tutorial in blog form or video form.

Add Images

You might not want to add images to your exam countdowns and only add pictures to your exciting events. Think of it as an easy way to keep organised and make exams seem less boring. We recommend using some images from our image packs, which is an in-app purchase but adds colour to your countdowns. We think the pattern packs might suit your needs best. It will make your countdown timeline come to life.

App Icon Countdown

We have a feature called App Icon Countdown and it displays a number of days to your next countdown event. So this will really help out if your next event is an exam and you need to know quickly how many more days left till an event. If you want to turn it on then Open the App-More-App Icon Countdown and make sure it is turned on (green switch).

We hope these few tips helped you feel you could be more organised for any exams you have this year or for the future. Don’t forget to tag your countdowns with #countdown and #countdownplus

Beginner’s Guide to Universal Studios

We love writing about Universal Studios Orlando as much as we like talking about Disneyland. So we wanted to do a similar post to our Disneyland blog post and share with you a beginner’s guide to Universal Studios Orlando. We sourced some of the best info we could find on Pinterest and blog sites.

When to attend

Much like Disneyland, it is best to attend during term time and avoid the national holidays when you can. Of course, if you like going around seasonal time then you may expect to see a few seasonal treats like rides, shows and food.

Tricks

So if some of you aren’t aware you can use your magic wand that you get from Harry Potter world to do a whole host of fun things. You can unlock some magical features on some parts of the Harry Potter area of the park. Look out for the spots on the floor telling you where to go.

Food

Much like with Disneyland you can find some delightful treats to enjoy at the park. Following on from Harry Potter, you can get a butter beer and why not choose a Frozen Butter Beer for those hot days at the park. The giant Big Pink doughnut from Lard Lad Donuts is a must, best when shared amongst friends. If you are looking for a hearty meal then head to The Leaky Cauldron, which offers a variety of British foods like Bangers and Mash and Cottage Pie. If you want something cold for dessert then head to Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlour, which has some tasty flavours to indulge in.

Tickets

So much like Disneyland’s Fast Pass Universal Studios has its own system of jumping the queues. You can get The Express Pass which is given to you if you stay in one of the five hotels. Since Universal Studios has a lot more to offer, a lot of people recommend to get a park to park ticket, it means you can get out a lot more rides and attractions.

Let us know if you are off to Universal Studios in the comments and don’t forget to tag your countdowns or Universal Studio countdowns with #countdownplus and #countdown.

Add Event Feature

We have another video tutorial turned into a blog post for you. For this blog tutorial, you will find out about the new event features on Version 4.0. This is for iOS only. This was our top answer from our Twitter poll so thanks for voting.

When updating Version 4.0 we have added a few new features when you add an event. You can now add who views your events. So change the Privacy, and select from 2 options. Me Only and Public. When you choose the new event feature you no longer have to add an end date to it. Say for example you are counting down to an event in a different country then you can now choose the time zone.

Appearance and style have been simplified. You will find all the editing tools for your countdowns on here now. Why not add a Location to your countdown, and if there is a link which you want to be attached to the event then now you can.

Thank you for reading this tutorial, we will be releasing more tutorials very soon. If you have any questions about the app then message us on Facebook. Check out the original video here.

Beginner’s guide to Disneyland

We write a lot of Disneyland based blog posts and wanted to share with you a beginner’s guide to Disneyland. We sourced some of the best info we could find on Pinterest and blog sites.

When to attend

So as shared before it’s best to go during term time at school and avoid all national holidays if you can. Bare in mind it is totally down to when is best for you and sometimes visiting during national holidays can be a great time to see special shows and eat some seasonal foods.

Photo opportunity

If you are going to the park with family or friends, please remember not to bring your selfie sticks as these are frowned upon at the park. If whilst at the park for the first time you want to see your favourite Disney characters then, the meet and greet with characters might suit you. You can meet several of your favourite characters.

Tickets

If you want to fast track a lot of rides then we recommend getting yourself a fast pass. For a limited time on rides, you can queue jump and not have to wait hours to get on a ride. This is highly recommended if you are going to get on a ride which is very popular. You can grab tickets at the entrance of rides at the park, you just pay a little extra to queue jump.

Firework Show

Attending a firework show is a must when visiting Disneyland for the first time, or check out the special parades. We want to share the best places to actually view the fireworks which are, the further away you get from the castle the more obstructions will block your view. If you don’t mind setting up camp 2 hours before the show the try and find a spot to sit near the Partners Statue.

Food

There are many food items and always new ones around the seasonal holidays. We have talked about Disneyland items before but a few fan favourites are as follows. The Mickey ears ice cream bar which is so simple but a staple at the parks. Dole whip which sounds amazing and we are yet to enjoy or try the Dole Float. The Mickey Pretzel is a firm favourite for many as a great savoury snack, you can find it at many food carts. We have seen so many gorgeous pictures of the Bacon Mac and Cheese inside from a bread cone which sounds amazing, can be found at the Cars Land. There are much more but these are great, to begin with.

User Inspired Summer Holidays 2017

We love creating user inspired posts and for this week’s post, it’s all about Summer Holidays. We found 2 of our recent favourite countdowns from Instagram and gathered some fun facts and things to do in those countries.

First up we have @mikailapatt who is off to Gran Canaria in June this year. Gran Canaria is a stunning place, if you just type “Gran Canaria” into Pinterest you will see a sea of images that show off the stunning scenery. There are lots of beaches and plenty of mountains to trek as well. If you are just after a peaceful beach holiday then it is perfect for that kind of holiday. With about 9 different beaches to choose from, you will be spoilt for choice. If however, you want to venture into the ocean you can by taking some boat trips and more specifically the Aphrodite Cruise, which you can take from Puerto Rico. If you fancy a trek then it is recommended to hire a car to visit Teja which is in the middle of the mountain island. There is so much to see it would be hard to whittle it down into a blog post so check Pinterest and some blog sites for tips on what to do. The island is perfect any time of year so whether you visit in Summer or in Winter you will be guaranteed to get hot weather. It is the ideal hiking holiday since there are so many caves and mountains to visit.

Now we have @jesssymarshall who is off to Bulgaria in June this year. This user’s timeline looked busy but we fell in love with the idea of going to Bulgaria. If you just Pinterest search Bulgaria you get beautiful scenery shots and plenty of travel blog links on what to do. So we dug into a few of them and picked a few things you could do whilst out on holiday in Bulgaria. Apparently, June is a great time to head to Bulgaria as it has the best weather during that month and in September. Believe it or not, you can also go skiing in December through to March who knew. When we searched a popular destination to visit in Bulgaria is Sofia which is the capital of Bulgaria. There is a whole lot of history to see whilst in the capital and there are a huge amount of museums to head to. One museum which comes up in a lot of photos is the Largo Open Air Museum where you can relics of the past. Lastly let’s briefly mention food, apparently, Bulgarians love a good sit down meal with plenty to eat. So expect to spend a lot of time eating as well as exploring the city it is the perfect way to get back some energy. Plus it is relatively cheap compared to prices in other European countries so you get your money worth in terms of portion sizes.

Top 3 Music Festivals of 2017

Summer is approaching, and with Coachella been and gone, the summer of music festivals is about to start. With so many and so many booked out already, we wanted to countdown to some of our favourite music festivals. Read on to find out our Top 3 music festivals for 2017.

3.V Festival

It is back for another year in August at Hylands Park and Weston Park for two days. This year is set to be amazing with some amazing headliners such as Pink and JAY Z. With it being a smaller festival, there are plenty of chances to discover brand new music. Not only can you see live music but there will be a comedy tent. The Glee Comedy Tent to be exact, which is great if you want a break from all the non-stop dancing. Tickets have not sold out yet so you still have a chance to attend the festival.

2.Parklife

Parklife is in Heaton Park in Manchester on the 10-11th June. They have a huge lineup this year. Some familiar faces and some new faces. Headliners include The 1975 and Frank Ocean. So this is on the festivals in our line up which has unfortunately begun to sell out. Weekend General Admission and Payment Plans have all sold out, but you get your hands on Saturday and Sunday tickets. They are so many stages to choose from and some great artists it is sure to be a great festival.

1.Reading and Leeds

This is on of the UK’s biggest summer festivals with a new record of the capacity of 90,000 in 2016. Reading and Leeds this year has some brand new headliners and one which caught a lot of attention from the press was Eminem. Kasabian is back as headliners which headlined the festival back in 2012. Muse is headlining as well and headlined twice in the past. With Eminem headlining on Saturday they sold out on Saturday tickets for Reading back in March. But all weekend tickets for Leeds festival have not sold out yet. Not only are there headliners but there is a huge list of artists performing across all three days.

We thought we would include some summer festivals tips we found online. A lot of the time when you attend festivals, travel to the site is always busy, so expect to stay in the car or coach for a while so bring things to keep you occupied. Don’t bring a lot of valuables to the festival keep those safe at home. Do bring a flag or something to help find your tent if you end up camping out. If you are attending any UK festivals then expect the weather to change drastically. So take an extra few items of clothing and don’t forget those wellies. If the festival you are going to has an app then it can be recommended to download it. Some will have lineups and even maps of the festival so you never get lost.

Well, we hope that helps you get a better idea of some of the festivals. Don’t forget to countdown to some of those music festivals and tag them with #countdownplus or #countdown.

Top 5 things to do at Disneyland

We love to talk about Disneyland a lot on our blog, our Disneyland posts always perform well with our audience. So we wanted to do a Top 5 things to do at Disneyland. All this info was sourced from Pinterest.

  1. Eat a Dole Whip

Something which we have seen time and time again on Pinterest in regard to food at Disneyland, they all tell you to have a Dole Whip. It is a Disneyland favourite and a staple food, you cannot go wrong with it. Also it makes for a lovely picture for all social media channels or just Instagram.

  1. Take a picture in front of the castle

Whether you go as a couple or with a group of friends, taking a picture in front of the castle is always a must do. Either get some Minnie ears and take some artsy photos for Instagram. It is a really a perfect photo opportunity at any parks across the globe.

  1. Take photos with classic Disney characters

A great way to remember your trip is by taking lots of pictures with some Disney characters. They can be spotted all through the park, and you can queue to see a few of them all in one go. So choose who you want to take pictures with and manage to squeeze it in during your trip.

  1. Watch a fireworks show.

So usually towards the end of the day, you can expect to see a fireworks show. Depending on the time of year it could be season themed. It is always worth a watch after a long day of adventure at the park.

1.Walk through the Sleeping Beauty Castle

So not only is it recommended to take a picture in front of the castle but you can actually go inside the castle. It is an attraction basically for the whole family. It’s a really exciting experience, with lights and drama and a thrilling story to follow along.

Hope you all enjoyed another Disneyland post, we will be doing a similar post but for Universal Studios Orlando in a few weeks time. Don’t forget to tag all your Disneyland countdowns with #countdownplus and #countdown.

How to throw an awesome Easter Party

Easter is on its way and with only a month left you might be thinking of getting a few friends together to celebrate Easter time. It’s a lovely time of year since all the daffodils come out and it’s a perfect excuse to have a picnic in the Spring time weather.

The first thing to consider is a date that suits everyone, so if like many you are part of a big group chat with friends then settle on a date. Next the step we would recommend is to put that date in your Countdownplus app. You can also get everyone else involved and they can countdown with you by using an Event Code. If you need help with that check out this video tutorial. Now that’s all sorted time to think of what to do.

You might have a lot of friends who have children so an Easter egg hunt would be a blast. You can go to your local crafts store and get some Easter egg craft items. You could get the kids to decorate some eggs and then go away and hide some in the garden, or your local park. Kids then can have some baskets to go and collect them.

Setting up a picnic for the whole family could be fun. You can get everyone to bring some foods along and have everyone chip in. That makes for a great day out during spring time. Could also make some Easter treats too, Pinterest is the best place to find some amazing ideas.

So we hope that helps give you some inspiration for your next Easter party. Don’t forget to tag your Easter countdown by using #Countdownplus on all social channels.
