So the last few posts have been about work and school so we wanted to share some tips on vacations. We love seeing all of your vacation countdowns on social media. So we wanted to share with you how you can have a fabulous vacation trip via the app.
Once you get your friends together and find out a date you all agree on then, you can add those all important dates to the app. Share the event code and don’t forget to make the event public so everyone can countdown with you.
If you are going on several vacations then don’t forget to personalise the countdown with the selection of great images from our image packs. We have a few vacation inspired images to choose from. You could also add your own images or images from Facebook.
Once you have all the dates sorted and you finish personalising the event then you should start to share the event on social media which as mentioned a lot of our users do. Twitter we don’t see enough holiday countdowns so do get Sharing via the share buttons on the app.
Then a sad feeling of knowing the event is over is not a nice feeling, but you can keep the old events to see how long since an event. This should then spur you on to actually add some new holiday events to the app. The repeat from the top.
We hope this gave you some more ideas on what to do with your vacation countdowns. So get sharing on social as we love seeing your countdowns use #countdown and #countdownplus
We love writing about Universal Studios Orlando as much as we like talking about Disneyland. So we wanted to do a similar post to our Disneyland blog post and share with you a beginner’s guide to Universal Studios Orlando. We sourced some of the best info we could find on Pinterest and blog sites.
When to attend
Much like Disneyland, it is best to attend during term time and avoid the national holidays when you can. Of course, if you like going around seasonal time then you may expect to see a few seasonal treats like rides, shows and food.
So if some of you aren’t aware you can use your magic wand that you get from Harry Potter world to do a whole host of fun things. You can unlock some magical features on some parts of the Harry Potter area of the park. Look out for the spots on the floor telling you where to go.
Much like with Disneyland you can find some delightful treats to enjoy at the park. Following on from Harry Potter, you can get a butter beer and why not choose a Frozen Butter Beer for those hot days at the park. The giant Big Pink doughnut from Lard Lad Donuts is a must, best when shared amongst friends. If you are looking for a hearty meal then head to The Leaky Cauldron, which offers a variety of British foods like Bangers and Mash and Cottage Pie. If you want something cold for dessert then head to Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlour, which has some tasty flavours to indulge in.
So much like Disneyland’s Fast Pass Universal Studios has its own system of jumping the queues. You can get The Express Pass which is given to you if you stay in one of the five hotels. Since Universal Studios has a lot more to offer, a lot of people recommend to get a park to park ticket, it means you can get out a lot more rides and attractions.
Let us know if you are off to Universal Studios in the comments and don’t forget to tag your countdowns or Universal Studio countdowns with #countdownplus and #countdown.
We write a lot of Disneyland based blog posts and wanted to share with you a beginner’s guide to Disneyland. We sourced some of the best info we could find on Pinterest and blog sites.
When to attend
So as shared before it’s best to go during term time at school and avoid all national holidays if you can. Bare in mind it is totally down to when is best for you and sometimes visiting during national holidays can be a great time to see special shows and eat some seasonal foods.
If you are going to the park with family or friends, please remember not to bring your selfie sticks as these are frowned upon at the park. If whilst at the park for the first time you want to see your favourite Disney characters then, the meet and greet with characters might suit you. You can meet several of your favourite characters.
If you want to fast track a lot of rides then we recommend getting yourself a fast pass. For a limited time on rides, you can queue jump and not have to wait hours to get on a ride. This is highly recommended if you are going to get on a ride which is very popular. You can grab tickets at the entrance of rides at the park, you just pay a little extra to queue jump.
Attending a firework show is a must when visiting Disneyland for the first time, or check out the special parades. We want to share the best places to actually view the fireworks which are, the further away you get from the castle the more obstructions will block your view. If you don’t mind setting up camp 2 hours before the show the try and find a spot to sit near the Partners Statue.
There are many food items and always new ones around the seasonal holidays. We have talked about Disneyland items before but a few fan favourites are as follows. The Mickey ears ice cream bar which is so simple but a staple at the parks. Dole whip which sounds amazing and we are yet to enjoy or try the Dole Float. The Mickey Pretzel is a firm favourite for many as a great savoury snack, you can find it at many food carts. We have seen so many gorgeous pictures of the Bacon Mac and Cheese inside from a bread cone which sounds amazing, can be found at the Cars Land. There are much more but these are great, to begin with.
Let us know if you are off to Disneyland in the comments and don’t forget to tag your countdowns or Disneyland countdowns with #countdownplus and #countdown.
We love creating user inspired posts and for this week’s post, it’s all about Summer Holidays. We found 2 of our recent favourite countdowns from Instagram and gathered some fun facts and things to do in those countries.
First up we have @mikailapatt who is off to Gran Canaria in June this year. Gran Canaria is a stunning place, if you just type “Gran Canaria” into Pinterest you will see a sea of images that show off the stunning scenery. There are lots of beaches and plenty of mountains to trek as well. If you are just after a peaceful beach holiday then it is perfect for that kind of holiday. With about 9 different beaches to choose from, you will be spoilt for choice. If however, you want to venture into the ocean you can by taking some boat trips and more specifically the Aphrodite Cruise, which you can take from Puerto Rico. If you fancy a trek then it is recommended to hire a car to visit Teja which is in the middle of the mountain island. There is so much to see it would be hard to whittle it down into a blog post so check Pinterest and some blog sites for tips on what to do. The island is perfect any time of year so whether you visit in Summer or in Winter you will be guaranteed to get hot weather. It is the ideal hiking holiday since there are so many caves and mountains to visit.
Now we have @jesssymarshall who is off to Bulgaria in June this year. This user’s timeline looked busy but we fell in love with the idea of going to Bulgaria. If you just Pinterest search Bulgaria you get beautiful scenery shots and plenty of travel blog links on what to do. So we dug into a few of them and picked a few things you could do whilst out on holiday in Bulgaria. Apparently, June is a great time to head to Bulgaria as it has the best weather during that month and in September. Believe it or not, you can also go skiing in December through to March who knew. When we searched a popular destination to visit in Bulgaria is Sofia which is the capital of Bulgaria. There is a whole lot of history to see whilst in the capital and there are a huge amount of museums to head to. One museum which comes up in a lot of photos is the Largo Open Air Museum where you can relics of the past. Lastly let’s briefly mention food, apparently, Bulgarians love a good sit down meal with plenty to eat. So expect to spend a lot of time eating as well as exploring the city it is the perfect way to get back some energy. Plus it is relatively cheap compared to prices in other European countries so you get your money worth in terms of portion sizes.
We hope you enjoyed another wonderful user inspired blog post, we love to see your countdowns on social media so don’t forget to tag your countdowns with #countdown and #countdownplus so we can like them.
This post is another one of our users inspired posts that we really enjoy writing because all of our users have such amazing countdowns. For this one, it’s a mixed user inspired event post.
First up is @chrissiebarlow with their countdown to Disneyland next year in September 2018. As we always tell our followers, it never is too early for any countdowns. We love to talk about Disneyland on our blog here, our last post was just about Disneyland. Disneyland by 2018 will feature a lot of new rides to enjoy such as the new Guardians of the Galaxy ride formerly the Tower of Terror and a new Star Wars attraction. Going to Disneyland just before Halloween will be exciting, there will be many shows to watch and the park will be transformed for your enjoyment. Halloween gets well under way from September so there is a lot to look forward to such at Mickey’s Halloween Party at the park. So overall a fabulous time to head to Disneyland and we hope you have a lovely time, we can’t wait to countdown along with you for the rest of the year.
Next, is @lottieq96 with their countdown to Tenerife in a few months’ time. We have seen a few Tenerife countdowns on Instagram but we loved the look of this one. Tenerife is a lovely sunny place for a holiday, whether it’s with a group or you’re going as a couple. There is so much to do whilst in Tenerife, if you just want to enjoy the pool then the best place to go to is Siam Park which is a huge favourite with many tourists. The park is massive so expect to spend most of your day there and maybe don’t plan to do anything but spend your day there. Loro Parque Zoo is a firm favourite too from our research online, you can get a ticket for both Siam Park and the Zoo which helps to queue jump at the water park. There is so much to see at the Zoo lots of shows so chances to see some animals in action. You are guaranteed to see animals in the sunshine since it’s sunny all year around in Tenerife.
We hope you enjoyed this user inspired post from our users. If you want to be featured in the next user inspired post then use #countdown or #countdownplus to be featured.
We love to talk about Disneyland a lot on our blog, our Disneyland posts always perform well with our audience. So we wanted to do a Top 5 things to do at Disneyland. All this info was sourced from Pinterest.
- Eat a Dole Whip
Something which we have seen time and time again on Pinterest in regard to food at Disneyland, they all tell you to have a Dole Whip. It is a Disneyland favourite and a staple food, you cannot go wrong with it. Also it makes for a lovely picture for all social media channels or just Instagram.
- Take a picture in front of the castle
Whether you go as a couple or with a group of friends, taking a picture in front of the castle is always a must do. Either get some Minnie ears and take some artsy photos for Instagram. It is a really a perfect photo opportunity at any parks across the globe.
- Take photos with classic Disney characters
A great way to remember your trip is by taking lots of pictures with some Disney characters. They can be spotted all through the park, and you can queue to see a few of them all in one go. So choose who you want to take pictures with and manage to squeeze it in during your trip.
- Watch a fireworks show.
So usually towards the end of the day, you can expect to see a fireworks show. Depending on the time of year it could be season themed. It is always worth a watch after a long day of adventure at the park.
1.Walk through the Sleeping Beauty Castle
So not only is it recommended to take a picture in front of the castle but you can actually go inside the castle. It is an attraction basically for the whole family. It’s a really exciting experience, with lights and drama and a thrilling story to follow along.
Hope you all enjoyed another Disneyland post, we will be doing a similar post but for Universal Studios Orlando in a few weeks time. Don’t forget to tag all your Disneyland countdowns with #countdownplus and #countdown.
Easter is on its way and with only a month left you might be thinking of getting a few friends together to celebrate Easter time. It’s a lovely time of year since all the daffodils come out and it’s a perfect excuse to have a picnic in the Spring time weather.
The first thing to consider is a date that suits everyone, so if like many you are part of a big group chat with friends then settle on a date. Next the step we would recommend is to put that date in your Countdownplus app. You can also get everyone else involved and they can countdown with you by using an Event Code. If you need help with that check out this video tutorial. Now that’s all sorted time to think of what to do.
You might have a lot of friends who have children so an Easter egg hunt would be a blast. You can go to your local crafts store and get some Easter egg craft items. You could get the kids to decorate some eggs and then go away and hide some in the garden, or your local park. Kids then can have some baskets to go and collect them.
Setting up a picnic for the whole family could be fun. You can get everyone to bring some foods along and have everyone chip in. That makes for a great day out during spring time. Could also make some Easter treats too, Pinterest is the best place to find some amazing ideas.
So we hope that helps give you some inspiration for your next Easter party. Don’t forget to tag your Easter countdown by using #Countdownplus on all social channels.
Easter is getting closer and some of you may want to use that time to go away for a short time. Short Easter breaks are hugely popular. We wanted to compile a short list of places you could visit for cheap and last minute. So here are our Top 3 Easter getaways.
1. Paris, France
It is one of the easiest places to get to if you are travelling from London. You can travel either via train or plane, train is the fastest and gets you right in the centre of Paris. From as little as £30 you can travel to Paris via the Eurostar. So there are plenty of things to do and see whilst in Paris, you can see famous sites like Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame and see the Mona Lisa painting at Louvre. So much food to eat to, why not head to a few patisseries and get some croissants and macarons. Of if you fancy heading Disneyland you can do so by still taking the Eurostar, there is a stop along the way where you can get off and visit the magical castle. Paris is great any time of year, but very pretty during the spring months when the cherry blossom is in full swing
A fairly easy to get to country via London, no trains to Amsterdam but you get there from £100 if you fly there. Many thrilling places to visit whilst in Amsterdam, Anne Frank house, Van Gogh museum and why not take a photo at the IAMSTERDAM sign. Plenty to explore on foot, but it is recommended to rent a bicycle to see the town in its full glory. Enjoy some stroopwaffles, eat a dutch apple pie. It’s a delightful place to visit in the Easter months, providing the weather holds up. You can go for many walks and discover lots of things on your travels.
3. Rome, Italy
Travel to Rome from London, and costs around £100 over to go there. Most popular sites to visit are the Colosseum in Rome, Trevi Fountain, Vatican City and many others. So much pizza to eat during the trip since your in Rome, why not eat the best food ever. It’s a great place to visit and you can walk around the towns on foot, and take the tram to a lot of places or the bus. Check for opening times with a lot of places and it is a great time to visit the place in Easter, it can get quite hot so feels like an early summer holiday.
We hope you enjoyed this post for some Easter trips, don’t forget to tag your holidays with #countdownplus on all social channels.
So a couple of weeks ago we wrote a blog post about what to expect at Disneyland in 2017, so we wanted to do a similar post but for Universal Studios. So listed below are a few things to expect some point this year at the park.
Universal’s Volcano Bay
Which gets its grand opening on the 25th May. It’s a brand-new water theme park that comes to Universal Studios. With a great mixture of fun and relaxation, it should be a hit with all ages and families. Lots of thrilling water-based rides to and with the unique idea of using your Tapu Tapu wear that means no more waiting in line to get the most thrill seeking rides. There are water slide rides which you can ride in with more than one person, great if you head to the park with friends. There is a huge list of rides available must the most striking ones are from the volcano itself. You have the Karakatau Aqua Coaster which lets you experience the power of the volcano, as mentioned you ride with four people. If you feel like plunging into the water then you might like the Ko’okiri Body Plunge, it’s a tradition that honours the volcano god. If you like the sound of it then you will have to experience a 70-degree fall through a drop door and don’t forget the 125 feet of your potential fall. So there is something for everyone at this new water park.
The Incredible Hulk Coaster
This was an already existing ride to the park but it got a brand-new unveiling recently. So they added a few new extra surprises to the ride. As soon as you enter the ride you get told about being subjected to high levels of gamma radiation and be taken through a process called a Hulk-a-fication. Queuing for the ride is totally different which ties in with the story that you hear about before you enter the ride. The ride chairs are totally different to and for a more immersive experience they have new music that you hear whilst on the ride.
And that’s about it with the whole park, not a lot of new rides to experience at the park it seems but stay tuned on their website for more info. If you are counting down to a trip to Universal Orlando don’t forget to use the #countdownplus on social me
