User Inspired Concerts 2018 🎤

We have the last user inspired post of 2017 for you, hope you enjoy reading about the next two events taking place in 2018.

If you are not familiar with our user inspired posts then here is a little catch up on what happens in these posts. We pick 2 amazing countdowns from Twitter or Instagram and give you a little more info on the countdown itself. If it is a countdown to say, Ed Sheeran, we give you some news on him and if there are still some tickets left or if it’s a holiday some great tips on where to go and what to see and when to go.

First up is @saraawr who is going to see Dan Howell and Phil Lester perform on their Interactive Introverts tour in May 2018. Dan Howell and Phil Lester are two friends who met through YouTube and forged a very successful career out of making YouTube videos. Both have separate channels and have a joint gaming channel, and they have over 10 million subscribers with both their personal channels put together. They have done a live stage show back in 2016 called The Amazing Tour Is Not On Fire and was also turned into a YouTube Red series. It was a wonderful mix of what happened at their shows and the BTS look at their life on the road. The stage show was a brilliant mix of the regular things that happened in their videos but on a larger scale in front of thousands of people on stage. We don’t know anything yet, about what Interactive Introverts is going to be about. It might just be bigger and better than the last live stage show from 2016. This tour will take them all across the world, so wherever you are reading this, they could be on a stage just near you. Tickets can be found on sale here. Watch the trailer for the stage show here.

Next up is @haayyleeyy_ who is going to see Little Mix in July 2018. They were a band formed on The X Factor 6 years and have forged a very successful singing career. With 4 Number No.1s in the UK. The group has a brand-new single out right now called Reggaetón Lento with CNCO. That song was performed live on The X Factor Live Final and get a brilliant response from viewers. Saying that they actually stole the results show. After just coming off a live tour they have wasted no time at all and released a brand-new tour called The Summer Hits Tour 2018. You can still get tickets for the shows since tickets were released in November. We hope to hear some more great hits from them in 2018. From that X Factor performance, we are sure the stage shows will be amazing.  You can get tickets for the shows here. So if you missed them on their last tour then you can catch them again, or simply see them again.

User Inspired 2018 Holidays ✈️🏖

It has been some time since our last user inspired post, so since 2017 is nearly over, we wanted to share two of our favourite 2018 holiday countdowns. Read along to get some inspiration for your next trip.

First up is @_kays_world_ who is off to Rhodes, Greece in July next year. To start off let’s mention when it is best to actually visit Greece, July and August are busy times but if you don’t mind it then it might suit you. Weather-wise April until June and also September is great months to visit. If you are planning on taking a visit then maybe think about renting a car to get you around town. It is recommended to visit Rhodes Town where you can climb the Roloi Clock Tower to get a better view of the whole town. It’s a place to visit during the day and also at night. Whilst you are there do go and visit Acropolis, it is some remains of the old place, you can actually climb the remains and see a stunning view of Rhodes. Be warned it isn’t for the faint-hearted and will be quite the climb up, but the view is very rewarding. If you want to spend some time just relaxing by the pool then you might want to find the beach that suits you. A lovely beach to go and relax is Tsambika beach located on the east coast, it is highly rated on Trip Advisor.

Next is @adventurous.alexandrea who is off to Vilnius, Lithuania in January next year. The best time to visit is May until June and September those are the less crowded times; July until August is the warmest times of the year to visit. It is recommended by many online to explore the old town, it is a huge town that is very easy to walk around. It holds some amazing baroque architecture, it also the largest baroque capital as well. It’s worth just wondering around the town and popping into a few shops and coffee shops too. The best way to see the new and old town is high up, you can climb Gediminas Hill that overlooks the city. Lithuanian food is also very interesting and also delicious, so be adventurous and try some local cuisine there. If the walking is tiring you out then there are lots of amazing museums to visit. So check before you go to find the best ones to visit.

This Ryanair Black Friday sale needs to end😅

Photo Filters

For this blog tutorial we will be explaining how filters work for the update of the app. This tutorial is for iOS only.

Since Version 4.1 we have added photo filters, first of all let’s explain how you can unlock extra filters. So go to the upgrades screen, you will see that now you will be able to unlock extra filters by either having the full version, or purchasing one of the image packs. So you can be on the lite version, but can unlock extra filters simply by purchasing image packs.

You can use photo filters in many different ways, you can use them on your profile picture, cover image and also pictures for your countdowns. So we are going to create a mock event just so you can see what happens. So fill in event details and then hit Themes and Styling.

Tap on the image in the bottom left hand corner, choose the image you want to use, then you will see a bunch of filters to choose from, once you get the extra filters you will have a huge selection to choose from. Choose the filter you like and hit save. Then you are all done.

You can go back and change the filters as many times as you like as well.

Thank you for reading this tutorial, we will be releasing more tutorials very soon. If you have any questions about the app then message us on Facebook. Check out the original video here.

Updates for Android and iPhone November 📱

We wanted to take time to write an update blog post for all users on iPhone and on Android. Read along to find out what is being updated in the app right now.

For iPhone users, we have recently updated the app to work on Ios 11, the recent update covers the following. Support for iPhone X, updated to new Ios 11, Fixed countdowns scrolling issue where the display would jump to the top on refreshes, stability and other improvements. We have just released a brand-new update called 4.2.1 so look at the updates tab on the App Store. We have recently switched to a much better server for iPhone. This has been pushed forward sooner than expected which we hope will perform faster and have fewer issues in the future. If you, of course, come across any issues regarding the recent switch or update then let us know on Facebook and we will try our best, to help you with that issue.

In terms of Android updates, we will work on a brand-new build soon, nothing too drastic a few new features which we couldn’t add due to time constraints. We are hoping to get an update out maybe late November to early December. We have been busy updating iPhone so we will get back to Android very soon.

In the future do expect us to be updating the app around every 2 months, we don’t have any major changes now for the app, we will try our best to make sure the app is running smoothly.

If you want to stay informed on updates and progress of the app then the best place to follow us is on Facebook. If you do have questions about the app then message us on Facebook where we are happy to help you with any query regarding the app. Follow us on Instagram and Twitter to see what events we are counting down to.

Add Facebook Events to your Android Calendar

On this post, we wanted to share with you how to add Facebook events on to your Android device. We do have the steps on our app but wanted to share you with you some visual steps on how to add them.

Facebook no longer allows third-party apps to directly sync Facebook birthdays. You can still access Facebook birthdays and events by configuring your Google calendar to import Facebook events.

You will need to access your Facebook account on a desktop browser, unlike on an iPhone you cannot just Request Desktop Site. In the top right-hand corner find the question mark symbol which is next to the arrow symbol. Type into the search section “export events”, you will see a list of options as an answer. You need to click on “How do I export events or friends’ birthdays? then follow these instructions.

When on the Events page, right-click the Upcoming Events link.

In another tab on your laptop open Google Calendar. In the bottom left-hand corner, you will see “Other calendars”, click on the bottom arrow to then find “Add by URL”. Paste the “Upcoming Events” or “Birthdays” link. Then click Add Calendar and you will see a message on the screen saying Calendar was imported successfully.

We hope this helped you add your Facebook Events to your Android device and the app, if you have any questions about the app then message us on Facebook.

Add Facebook Events to your iPhone Calendar

Since Apple released iOS 11 a couple of our users on Countdownplus have been messaging us on Facebook saying that they cannot see any calendar options in the Facebook section of their iPhone settings. This is because Apple removed direct Facebook and Twitter integration on iOS 11.We wanted to share with you how to add Facebook events back to your iPhone on iOS 11. The only way to add Facebook Events back to your calendar and for the app is to subscribe to the calendar.

On your iPhone click on this link, then you will most likely see the mobile version of the site. You need to request the desktop site, for Google Chrome you can find this option under the three dots, Request Desktop Site. For Safari, you can find this option under the share button, scroll across to find Request Desktop Site.

Then in the lower right-hand corner, you will need zoom in to find this option. Tap on Upcoming Events and Birthdays. You will see a pop up telling you if you already have it or not. Just follow the on-screen instructions.

Alternatively, you can copy the Upcoming Events and Birthdays link, and go to your Settings-Accounts & Passwords-Add Account-Other-Add Subscribed Calendar. Then paste the link to the calendar in the Server section. Tap next and then tap Save.

We hope this helped you add your Facebook Events back to your iPhone calendar and the app, if you have any questions about the app then message us on Facebook.

Profile Header

This blog tutorial will explain the new profile header adjustments. This is for IOS only.

In Version 4.1 you can now get rid of the profile header screen. It was a hugely requested feature since Version 4.0 came out. It is super simple to get rid of and we wanted to show you some extra features we have added to the profile header. So if you want to get rid of the header, simply tap on the gear icon. Then see under Display option it says Birthday Countdown Header, get rid of that and it will disappear. You will now notice that the next birthday and your age does not take up so much space.

If you want to see how old you are to the exact time, then swipe to the left. If you want to see your next birthday swipe to the right.

If you want to edit the cover image you can, simply tap on your profile image, and you will see a blue bar with a pencil icon. Tap on that and choose to either edit the profile image, edit cover image or refresh image. Edit the cover image, and add a new image, you can also add an overlay so you can actually see all the text.

Thank you for reading this tutorial, we will be releasing more tutorials very soon. If you have any questions about the app then message us on Facebook. Check out the original video here.

User Inspired Instagram Events 🎤📚

It’s been a couple of weeks since our last user inspired post so we wanted to come back with another one with two countdowns from Instagram. This user inspired is a mix of music and holiday events.

First up is @lonelylintu who is off to see Dua Lipa on the 30th October. Dua Lipa has been getting hugely successful as of the past several years. We are obsessed with her New Rules song she released this year, the music video has been seen over 3 million times on YouTube. It is also her first song to hit the number one spot in the UK. She is heading off to The Self Titled Tour across the UK and Europe in 2017 and 2018. If you are recently discovering her music then she might be a great act to watch live, there are tickets still available for her shows. She really is killing it right now with her New Rules song, every day she gets millions of more views on the music video and it’s going platinum in some countries. We haven’t thought about seeing her live but it sounds like a great experience. She performed so well on The Jonathan Ross Show a couple of weeks ago, a dance routine to match the music video.

Lastly we have @hoplesscosplays who is attending MCM London Comic Con on the 28th October. If you love everything from Star Wars to Iron Man this is the place for you. They have a huge list of guests who attend the show all weekend. You can get photo sessions or just an autograph with them, bear in mind it does cost money for both, so check here for the full price list. Not only is great for guests but it is a rather good place to find official merchandise from your favourite comic books, TV shows or movies. Also, this a brilliant place to discover new comic artists and more unknown comic series. Cosplaying is a huge part of the event and can be fun to dress up as your favourite character. Of course, it is not mandatory to dress up for this event but can be fun to plan your outfit. We are getting closer to the big day so there are limited tickets available. Friday might be your best choice in terms of Priority Entry and General Entry. Saturday for both entries is limited but Sunday for Priority Entry is limited and or General Entry is fine. Best to check online before booking since these might change by the time this blog gets released.

If you want to take part in our user inspired posts all you must do is either tag us in your countdowns, or use #countdown or #countdownplus on your posts.

Best Tips for Disneyland Paris ✨🏰✨

It’s been some time since we did any Disneyland related blog posts, so we wanted to share some of the best tips for Disneyland Paris. We will split this into sections to read the parts you feel will help you out the most.

Weather

So unlike in Florida where it is always sunny and barely a chance of rain or snow. You need to expect the worst to happen in terms of weather. So if you visit in October then bring jumpers and a light raincoat, this works especially if you need to keep warm and dry during the night shows. You might think the park is small but it really doesn’t so do take some great weatherproof shows. It will help as you don’t want to walk around the park and end up having blisters and feeling tired so fast.

Book a Disney Hotel

This is more of a tip if you have not booked yet, but good to keep in mind for the next trip to Disneyland as well. It is always best to stay in a Disneyland hotel as you can get a free shuttle service to the parks from Disneyland hotels. It also only takes around 10 minutes to walk to the park. Tons of extras get thrown in as well if you choose a Disneyland hotel, such as park tickets come included in the price of your hotel stay, on-site shop and restaurant. If you choose to book a non-Disneyland hotel it can take up to an hour to get back which means less time in the park.

Arrive Early

Much like the parks in the US, if you do end up staying in a park in the US. You will be given early access to the parks, from 8am. This gives you a head start of 2 hours to get on rides, so you don’t have to wait behind everyone. This works well for the type of rides where you cannot get fast pass tickets for.

Food

Disneyland has some great food options as well if you do end up staying in the hotels then plan when you want to eat. If you think about eating when everyone else does you will get stuck in a queue for the table. It is advised online to eat before everyone does. Booking a table could be ideal as well since you won’t have to queue. So, plan a day ahead this will help if you are going in a large group. You can if you don’t want to have a sit-down lunch grab food from food stands around the park.

We hope these few tips helped you figure out what is best for your next Disneyland Paris trip. Tag all your Disneyland countdowns with #countdown and #countdownplus so we can see them.
