User Inspired Events for 2017

It has been a while since we did a user inspired post so we wanted to write a new post with User Inspired events for 2017. Since 2016 is drawing a close very soon, only 3 months to go!

First up is from Instagram user @caitlindoylex who is going to see Russell Howard in 2017. He is doing a worldwide tour for 6 months, which is set to be his biggest tour yet, which is fitting because his tour is called, Round The World. Also if you are thinking of attending then he has added extra dates for his tour, for most of his UK venues. If you have no idea who is then here is a quick description, he is an English comedian from Bristol and you might know him best for his show Russell Howard’s Good News which was on BBC Three. He currently has a show running on Comedy Central called Russell Howard & Mum: USA Road Trip, which is set to be hilarious, he tours the USA with his mum. They set off around the USA in a minivan together, they experience everything together on this journey. This show is a great chance for you to see the lovely bond between him and his mum, as he has mentioned his mum on several occasions with his stand up. It is set to be a right barrel of laughs great to watch this year ahead of his tour next year.

Secondly is a post from Instagram from user @chiarasalter_ who is seeing Drake next year in the UK. Yes if you either wasn’t checking the trending topics last week on Twitter, then you may have missed out on the big news that Drake is finally coming to the UK next year. If you are interested then tickets went on sale as of last week, and there are plenty of tickets still available so get them before you have to sit right at the back of the arena. He has also added plenty more tickets to the tour as well. If you do go, hopefully, he does have some guest appearances from some artists on his tracks, so far he has managed to get Rihanna who is his rumoured lover to sing with him on stage. He is apparently quite the performer and throws in a few songs from other artists and signs them himself. If we were going then we would love to see him perform, his big smash hit Hotline Bling, his latest single Controlla which we cannot stop listening to here at the office. No news on who his support act might be, whoever it is should be great.

Let us know on Twitter who you are seeing next year in 2017 because we would love to know, use #countdownplus when letting us know.

How to throw an awesome Halloween Party

Halloween is swiftly approaching and I am sure you will either be hosting or going to Halloween themed parties. So we wanted to share with you, our ideas on how to throw an awesome Halloween party.

First up, you need to organise things. So why not use the app to load in what parties you are going to, or when your party is. It can be useful to also share countdowns with friends and get them following the same events. So now that you are set and organised for Halloween, let’s move onto the main parts for creating an awesome party.

Food is a must at a party, the same old food just does not do it. So why not create really simple Halloween themed food. A popular find on Pinterest is Rice Krispies treats, you could shape them into a Pumpkin and use orange food dye to turn them orange. Or you could make some spooky monsters, and use icing sugar to coat the top of the treat. If you feeling a little lazy then why not find some Gingerbread cookies, and get creative and ice them into monsters, or skeletons. If you want to make something in a larger batch, then why not try a Graveyard brownie scene, try looking for Halloween themed biscuits and see what you can create with it. Maybe get some Halloween sweets to cover the graveyard. So now that’s most of the food sorted, let’s think about more savoury items. Grab some frozen mini pizzas, and buy a few extra toppings, so get some pepperoni which you can use as eyes, or you can use peppers and maybe try using some cheese. Create a bunch a cute Halloween themed pizzas and they will go down a treat. Why not go the extra mile and also theme some burgers, you could either decorate the buns or decorate the cheese by using a cookie cutter to cut out the cheese in shapes.

Decorations make a party come to life, and most of the time sorting them out can be simple. Let’s start with the simple ideas first, why not use some old tin cans from your recycling box and turn them into spooky characters. Use paint to cover the entirety of the can, then either paint on facial features or add some card on top for a more 3D look. Cheap things you could get are candles, either get themed ones or just large chunky candles, you could place on tables where the food is laid out or along the pavement to your house. Fairy lights are always easy to get hold of, you could hang them on the ceiling of each room, we would recommend getting the battery powered lights as you don’t have to worry about cables everywhere. Halloween themed bunting is always good for any part of the room; you could put some on the mantelpiece. Pumpkins from the supermarket or fake ones can always be painted. You could paint either face or just stick to a pattern. Great way to fill the room up with more decoration.

Games are a great way to get everyone involved. You could use the tin can you painted and get some tennis balls and throw them at them, and you could give out candy if you knock them off. You could create mystery boxes and people have to write down what they thought was inside the box. Whoever gets it right could win a prize. It’s technically a game, but you could print out free Halloween props, or find some at your local craft store. Then set you a photo booth area where your guests can take pictures.

So that’s it for how you could throw an awesome Halloween Party, post your Halloween countdowns using the #Countdownplus. We look forward to seeing your countdowns.

Halloween at Disneyland

So Halloween is fast approaching and for some that may mean going to Disneyland for Halloween. They do put on quite a show for Halloween so we are offering some advice on what to do at Halloween.

First up on the agenda is attractions around Halloween season. A big hit during the Halloween season is the Haunted Mansion. The Haunted Mansion gets decked out in The Nightmare Before Christmas décor. We recommended sorting out a fast pass for this ride, as it can be really popular at this time of year. Why not go see Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy, it’s sure to be a thrill of a ride. The whole ride is pretty immersive and could be great if you want to go as a group. Accompanied with projections onto the building of the ride as well. It much like the Haunted Mansion is a popular spot at this time of year, so get a fast pass for it again. A big attraction at any time of the year is the Tower of Terror, which is soon be closing so be quick to check it out before it gets redone. It will be shutting down in January, so you have plenty time over the festive time to visit it. This will most likely be a big hit over the Halloween as it is shutting down.

Now onto some food, there is so much themed food around the Halloween season. If you are looking for something light then you will find special Vampire Mickey Popcorn holders at a few street stands around the park. Some really crafty Dia de Los Muertos food items come to the park, and you can find a Minnie Dia de Los Muertos Cake Pops. Or if you are looking for something more sweet, then try out the Caramel Apple Poison Apple, it looks amazing and looks so enticing. Made to look like a pumpkin carving it is a very crafty item for this season. Choose from two other caramel apples, Mickey Witch and Jack Skellington. Not many themed drinks really which is odd, cause normally they have good drinks. Maybe check around the restaurants for special cocktails at restaurants.

Shows are going to be the main attraction for this time of year, as a special event for Halloween, you can join in with Mickey’s Halloween Party, this event runs through September and October. See some Fireworks at the park, why not also see the Pyrotechnic fun at the park, so your favourite villains appear in big lights above Sleeping Beauty Castle. We suggest that you get tickets to Mickey’s Halloween Party as there is a lot more you can experience, like parades and special performances.

The whole park comes to life at Halloween so do check out the park and spot all the Halloween decorations. Don’t miss out on the big Mickey Pumpkin display, get your photo there since it is a big photo opportunity. Check out the trees, which have Pumpkins hanging from them. The best advice for this season, is book in advance if you know when you are going. Things will book out or you just get stuck in a queue and no one wants that. Also don’t forget to get a few Halloween treats in the shops across the park.

That’s its for the Halloween at Disneyland post, what tips do you would share, let us know in the comments section below.
